Day 5

Day 5: Sodium

Hydrargyrum, Helium and Metneri

Hello again nerds,

Today we will talk about sodium, an element that’s present in the salt, it’s the 6th element with more presence in the earth, but most of the time it’s in composts like the salt. It has an atomic weight of 22,99. In ambient temperature it’s solid and continues in this state under 98ºC. The most of the time have 12 neutrons, and always have 11 protons, if not, it isn’t sodium.

This element was discovered in 1807 by Humphry Davy, we take a long time to discover that, because we use salt millenniums ago. We can obtain sodium with the electrolysis of water and a lot of salt.

A curiosity is that the sodium explodes if it touches water, producing this equitation
